But it’s also very exciting because there are no rules. Apart from a number of statutory things you must do, you can pretty much do what you want. There’s no “right or wrong” way, just your way. You’re in control, and as you get more experienced, you can fine-tune your approach – so different from working in the corporate world.

David Bone
With over 30 years experience as an MD David has worked with Progressive Management Teams to scale and mature a number of SME’s through to investment and acquisition. Working within both product and service-based businesses he understands the challenges of managing a growing SME and considers strategic planning, structured processes, understanding customers and managing capacity as key elements in maintaining control whilst on a development path.
Under his tenure companies have won numerous awards including the Queen’s Award for Export and Parcelforce Best Exporter Award.
David’s inclusive management style has been nationally recognised by his Peers as a recipient of the Sage Daily Telegraph Business Award for best business leader and as a result of his best practice he is proud to have been endorsed as a Chartered Director and subsequently as a Fellow by the IoD.
